Working Together: Practicalities
Professional, Transparent & Supportive Counselling Services
Beginning counselling or psychotherapy is an important investment in your emotional wellbeing. This page outlines the practical aspects of working together, including fees, appointments, online therapy, cancellations, professional standards, and what you can expect throughout the therapeutic process.
My aim is to provide a professional, ethical, and supportive counselling service where expectations are clear and you feel informed from the very beginning.
Professional Standards & Accreditation
As an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I am committed to providing counselling and psychotherapy services that meet recognised professional and ethical standards.
I am guided by the BACP Ethical Framework and continually reflect on best practice to ensure that therapy remains safe, respectful, and effective for every client.
My professional memberships include:
- BACP Accredited Member (MBACP Accred 289227)
- NCS Accredited Registrant
- ACTO Professional Member
All therapy is provided in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
Online Therapy Across the UK
I offer secure online counselling and psychotherapy sessions for clients living throughout the United Kingdom via Zoom or WhatsApp.
Online therapy can provide flexible access to professional mental health support from the comfort of your own environment. During each online session, I may ask for a current address to ensure appropriate safeguarding procedures are in place.
If technical difficulties occur, we will attempt to reconnect using an agreed alternative method.
While online counselling is highly effective for many people, it may not always be suitable for those experiencing an immediate crisis or severe emotional distress.

I work with selected health insurance providers and Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs).

- Authorisation numbers
- Policy allowances
- Excess payments
- Session limits
- Coverage requirements
Therapy can begin once funding arrangements have been confirmed.
Appointments & Availability
Counselling and psychotherapy sessions are usually held weekly at a regular time agreed between us.
Consistency helps create a safe and effective therapeutic relationship while supporting progress and continuity throughout therapy.
The length of therapy varies according to your individual needs, goals, and circumstances. Some clients benefit from short-term support, while others prefer longer-term psychotherapy.
Cancellation Policy
Life can be unpredictable, and I understand that plans occasionally change.
- Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice are charged at the full session fee.
- Missed appointments are charged at the full fee.
- Where possible, alternative appointments may be offered if sufficient notice is provided.
- If I need to cancel a session, no fee will be charged.
Late arrivals will still finish at the originally scheduled appointment time.
If more than three consecutive appointments are missed, I may be unable to continue holding your regular appointment slot.
Confidentiality & Professional Boundaries
Confidentiality is fundamental to effective counselling and psychotherapy.
All personal information, discussions, and records are handled with care and in accordance with GDPR requirements, professional ethical standards, and applicable legal obligations.
Before beginning therapy, you will receive information regarding:
- Privacy Policy
- GDPR Information
- Terms of Engagement
- Confidentiality Guidelines
These documents help ensure transparency and understanding throughout our work together.
Reviewing Your Progress
Therapy is a collaborative process, and we will regularly review how our work is progressing.
Together, we will consider:
- Your therapeutic goals
- Progress and challenges
- Current support needs
- Whether the chosen approach remains beneficial
This ongoing review process helps ensure therapy continues to meet your individual needs.
Referrals & Additional Support
Occasionally, a client’s needs may be better supported by another professional or specialist service.
If this occurs, I will discuss my concerns openly and respectfully and, where appropriate, help you explore alternative support options that may better meet your needs.
Your wellbeing will always remain the primary consideration.
Crisis & Emergency Support
Please note that my practice is not an emergency service.
If you are experiencing an immediate mental health crisis or feel at risk of harming yourself or others, please seek urgent assistance through:
- NHS 111
- Emergency Services (999)
- Your nearest Accident & Emergency Department (A&E)
- Samaritans: 116 123 (24 hours a day)
Immediate support should always be accessed through emergency or crisis services.
Complaints Procedure
I am committed to providing a professional, ethical, and respectful counselling service.
If you have concerns about any aspect of our work together, I encourage you to discuss them with me directly wherever possible.
If a resolution cannot be reached, you may contact the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), which oversees professional standards and ethical practice.
Working Together With Confidence
My goal is to create a safe, transparent, and supportive therapeutic environment where you feel informed, respected, and able to focus on your personal growth and wellbeing.
If you have any questions regarding appointments, fees, online therapy, or the counselling process, please feel free to get in touch.
